The Tippecanoe Amateur Radio Association meets on the second Wednesday of each month, at 7:30pm, in the second floor classroom at the Imagination Station, 600 S Fourth Street, Lafayette IN 47901. Each month includes a brief business meeting, and a presentation covering an aspect of amateur radio. April's presentation will be by Kevin Lambert, KC9ZNL, "World Wide Flora and Fauna", an international spin-off of National Parks On The Air (NPOTA). Topics will include awards and the DX cluster. Who are "hams"? Amateur Radio operators (or hams) come from all walks of life -- doctors, students, kids, politicians, truck drivers, movie stars, missionaries and even your average neighbor next door. They are of all ages, sexes, income levels and nationalities. Whether through Morse Code on an old brass telegraph key, voice communication on a hand-held radio or computerized messages transmitted via satellite, all hams use radio to reach out to the world.
